Candied Orange Yogurt Parfait (Printable Version)

Layered yogurt with sweet candied oranges and a crunchy granola topping for a fresh, delightful treat.

# Ingredient List:

→ Candied Oranges

01 - 2 medium oranges, thinly sliced
02 - 1 cup granulated sugar
03 - 1 cup water

→ Yogurt Layer

04 - 2 cups Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla
05 - 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, optional
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Granola Crunch

07 - 1.5 cups granola, store-bought or homemade
08 - 0.25 cup chopped toasted almonds, optional

→ Garnish

09 - Fresh mint leaves, optional

# Directions:

01 - In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add orange slices in a single layer and simmer gently for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until rinds are translucent. Carefully transfer orange slices to a parchment-lined tray and let cool completely for about 10 minutes.
02 - In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt with honey if using and vanilla extract until smooth.
03 - Spoon a layer of yogurt into the bottom of each glass or jar. Add a layer of granola and a few pieces of candied orange. Repeat layers, finishing with yogurt and arranging candied orange slices on top. Sprinkle with extra granola and toasted almonds. Garnish with mint leaves if desired.
04 - Serve immediately for maximum crunch, or chill up to 1 hour before serving.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The contrast between creamy yogurt and crunchy granola is almost meditative to eat.
  • Candied oranges are naturally showstopping without requiring any fancy technique or special equipment.
  • You can prep everything ahead and assemble in minutes when hunger strikes.
02 -
  • Don't skip the cooling step for candied oranges—they need that rest time to become properly chewy and candy-like.
  • Assemble just before eating if you want maximum crunch, or add the granola right before serving if you're prepping ahead.
03 -
  • If your syrup seems too thin after cooking, simmer the candied oranges for a few more minutes—the sugar concentration determines how sticky and candy-like they become.
  • Toast your own almonds right before assembly for maximum freshness and crunch, or swap them for walnuts, pistachios, or even crushed amaretti cookies.
