Crispy Garlic Lumpia Chips (Printable Version)

Thin, crunchy lumpia wrapper chips infused with aromatic garlic, ideal for snacking or dipping.

# Ingredient List:

→ Lumpia Wrapper

01 - 10 lumpia (spring roll) wrappers

→ Garlic & Oil

02 - 3 tablespoons neutral oil (canola or vegetable)
03 - 4 large garlic cloves, minced
04 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
05 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ Garnish (optional)

06 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or chives

# Directions:

01 - Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for 3 minutes.
02 - Stack the lumpia wrappers and slice into thin strips or triangles approximately 1.2 inches (3 cm) wide.
03 - Heat oil gently over low heat in a small saucepan. Add minced garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
04 - Place sliced wrappers in a large bowl. Drizzle garlic-infused oil over them, add sea salt and black pepper, and toss gently to coat evenly.
05 - Arrange coated wrappers in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Fry in batches if necessary.
06 - Air-fry for 5 to 7 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
07 - Remove chips and cool on a wire rack. Repeat the process with remaining wrappers.
08 - Optionally garnish with chopped parsley or chives. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • They're ready in less than half an hour and require barely any active cooking time.
  • That garlic flavor hits different when it's infused into the oil rather than sprinkled on top.
  • One batch converts even skeptics into people who suddenly understand why chips are worth making at home.
02 -
  • Overcrowding the air fryer basket is the fastest way to end up with chewy chips instead of crispy ones—patience and batches are non-negotiable.
  • Don't skip the cooling step on the rack; those last few minutes of air exposure make the difference between almost-crispy and actually-crunchy.
  • The garlic oil needs to cool just slightly before tossing with the wrappers, otherwise the heat can make them soften before they even hit the air fryer.
03 -
  • Room-temperature garlic oil coats the wrappers more evenly than hot oil, which can cause uneven browning and some pieces burning before others are done.
  • If you don't have an air fryer, a 200°C oven works in about the same time—just spread them on a lined baking sheet and watch them carefully during the last couple of minutes.
